2007 NAB  What's new on lighting

As of the opening of NAB 2007 exhibit on April 16th, EFPlighting.com will be 3 months old. The objective of the tutorial web site is to give established production professionals and newcomers alike the opportunity to improve their careers by expanding their knowledge of lighting techniques. Apparently the site has accomplished that and much more, in only 3 short months EFPlighting.com is close to receiving an unprecedented 2 millions hits. Positive reviews have been written in 12 different languages and the site has been permanently linked to over 250 production forums worldwide. During this short period I also have received hundreds of e-mails and at the NAB show I had the privilege of meeting many of the site’s viewers in person. These personal contacts made me realize that EFPlighting.com has become more than just a tutorial site, thousand of viewers worldwide rely on the tutorials to steer them in the right direction on lighting techniques and also on the right products to purchase; this is a responsibility that  EFPlighting's staff will take very seriously. We have established a criteria in reporting new or existing products from the NAB exhibit.  All lighting products must benefit ENG (Electronic News Gathering) or EFP (Electronic Field Productions).  Products must of course provide the quality of light to give us full control and assist our creative techniques. Products must be durable and capable of withstanding the constant moving and transporting requirement. They must be designed for fast and easy set-ups and compact storage. Products must be represented by an established firm that can provide service and replacement parts when needed.

Please keep in mind that many of the products illustrated have not been  tested by EFPlighting.com. The review was based on my personal experience in using certain products and what I was able to see at the NAB show.  Many of the manufacturers have offered to send me their products for field testing on actual production assignments which I will do in the near future and report my findings. One thing that I did not take into consideration is the cost factor; prices constantly change and the true value of a piece of equipment can only be assessed by the individual making the purchase.

Thank you for supporting EFPlighting.com
