Some of the best lighting techniques used today were created long before there were commercial cameras. The Chiaroscuro (Light Dark) technique created by legendary Italian renaissance artist in the 14th, 15th and 16th century is by far the most popular lighting style used today, yet most photographers have no idea where these techniques came from or how to properly use it in order to obtain the quality that the Chiaroscuro was intended to accomplish. Nino is right at home here as he was an art scholar in his native Norther Italy and spent countless days in museums studying lighting and compositions in front of the original masterpieces.
